Miki invites Ayumu to her hometown to watch fireflies together in order to forget about the recent troubles in school. Ayumu meets Miki's childhood friends and we see Miki's playful as well as dark side and learn a little about her past. Mana brings a few of her friends on a trip, but they're terrified of getting on her bad side.
Suenobu-sensei has teased us with smiles and looks but now she finally reveals how Miki feels about her friend. Ayumu, who has been looking up to Miki for a long time, finds out that its not a one-sided friendship. Its a great satisfaction for Ayumu, since she has been wondering wether she'd developed a too strong dependance on Miki. I look forward to seeing them more on the same level from now on. At the same time, we also get a hint that Miki has a dark side as well as some emotional scars from childhood . But in this story, who doesn't?
Ayumu's growth as a character, with her going from happy to depressed and lately, her struggle to stand up and oppose her enemy, is really engaging. It was almost shocking to see the always so stoic Miki lower her walls for once. Mana's friends have been given more space in the story lately, and its interesting in a horrible kind of way to see how they've gone from standing firmly on the winner's side to realizing that it's really a swamp that threatens to suck them in.
